Genesis Spiritual Life and Conference Center in Westfield, MA is seeking a Part-Time Cook to work 20-24 hours per week. Must be available mornings and weekends, as needed, as well as some holidays. A typical schedule would be Mondays and Fridays and every other weekend.

The Part-Time Cook will prepare and serve meals for groups of guests ranging in size from 3 to 30, with occasional service as part of a team for larger parties and events. Accommodating food allergies and dietary restrictions of gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan are required. Genesis focuses on freshly prepared, healthy ingredients presented in an appealing manner.
Clean up, including sweeping and mopping floors, clearing and resetting dining tables, doing kitchen laundry, and washing guest dishes and cookware is routine. The Part-Time Cook will have the opportunity to contribute to menu design and recipe development, under the direction of the Chef.
Demonstrated experience cooking in a group setting for at least three years. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Serve-Safe Certification.
This position requires standing for extended periods of time, and lifting and carrying loads up to 25 pounds in an environment, with regular exposure to heat and refrigeration. There is occasional stress or pressure due to workload, work that requires repetitive activity, and interruptions.
Responsible for leading the department and employees in the absence of the supervisor and administrator. Responsible for overseeing that snack tables are clean and supplies provided.
Ensure that established infection control policies and procedures are followed as observed.
When necessary assist in receiving and storing food and supplies, verifying invoices for food, and equipment upon receipt, and submitting invoices to the bookkeeper.
Ensure that standard cooking procedures are followed in accordance with established departmental policies.
Assure that food preparation area and food storage areas are maintained in a clean and safe manner by performing cleaning duties and reporting any hazardous conditions or equipment to the supervisor immediately.
Assist with maintaining an ongoing inventory of supplies and food staples.
