During this time, many people feel the need to pray differently and are looking for new ways to do this. It has been said that poetry and prayer are bound like twins.  Reading poetry can be a doorway into deeper prayer, a prayer that leaves room for the divine to surprise us.  We will gather and explore the words of David Whyte, Wendell Berry, Christine Valters Paintner and others.  We will share our experiences and images and leave with some inspiration for our own words.

It is the duty of every cultured man or woman to read sympathetically the scriptures of the world. If we are to respect others' religions as we would have them respect our own, a friendly study of the world's religions is a sacred duty.
