Healing After Loss: How Nature Can Guide Us Forward
A gentle group healing to help you regain a sense of peace. Facilitated by JoAnn Bourquard, Spiritual Director at Genesis.
“There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature – the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.”
– Racheal Carson
We have all been wintering in so many ways since the COVID pandemic began in 2020. We are emerging from a literal winter. Many of us have come face to face with adversity and loss during the past year. The grief that we feel is a natural, complex response.
Loss takes many forms – the death of a loved one, losing your job, the end of a relationship, children leaving home – not to mention the collective discomfort we may feel from a loss of normalcy due to the pandemic. The circumstances of life can sometimes make us feel like we are trapped in an endless cycle of grief.
Thankfully, the living world holds clues for navigating loss and creating a more resilient, regenerative, and peaceful way forward. Notice how nature gets quiet in the cold, dark parts of the year – and slowly unfurls when the sun returns. Time, patience, and our own inner quiet can help us survive the winter of loss in our own lives – and trust that renewal is possible.
Moving from fallow to fertile ground
We invite you to join us for a gentle day of healing and renewal with others who have experienced loss. Together, we can begin (and continue) the healing process.
JoAnn will share a presentation to help ground everyone and allow a sense of calm and peace to take root. There will be time for reflection, journaling, and sharing in small groups – and ample time to experience the natural beauty of Genesis and the many gifts of nature on the grounds.
Our time together will include lunch.
Register below or call Genesis from Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm at 413-562-3627.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” ~Matthew 5:4
