“Be Still and Know that I Am God” (Psalm 46:10):  A Lenten Retreat

Take a sacred pause during this Lenten season to spend a contemplative weekend at Genesis as we ready ourselves for the Paschal Mystery to come.

There will be time for extended silence, simple gatherings and input, prayer practices and Sunday Eucharist.

You will also have the option to join a gentle chair yoga class on Saturday, led by our in-house healing arts yoga therapist, Megan Elliott, E-RYT, C-IAYT. Stretch and strengthen your mind, body and spirit! Deeper breaths and quiet pauses. Experience mindful chair yoga with do-able challenges and stretches for your whole body. Includes some standing poses using the chair as a prop. The class is designed for all levels.

Facilitated by JoAnn Bourquard and Fr. Norm Comtois, OMI, MA

JoAnn Bourquard is a seasoned spiritual director who believes that spiritual companioning is a means of healing the soul and, ultimately, the world.  She holds the belief that “an unreflected life is not worth living” and that sharing our life story with one who is trained to listen deeply is a path toward personal growth and connection with the Divine.
JoAnn is a retreat director and workshop facilitator. She has a particular interest in journaling and using literature as a means of awakening the soul. With a Master’s Degree in Spirituality and a certificate in Women’s Leadership, JoAnn is a Supervisor to those in formation to become spiritual directors and trains other supervisors. She especially connects with nature as a way into deeper contemplation and joy. She is also experienced in teaching the Enneagram.
JoAnn presents a range of programs throughout the Northeast and is involved in the spiritual discernment process with individuals and groups in transition. She accompanies people of all faiths, including those seeking but not identifying with a particular tradition. She has accompanied men and women with serious illnesses, those who are dying, and people dealing with grief and loss of all types.

Fr. Norman Comtois, OMI, MA is an ordained Catholic priest and member of the Missionary Oblates.  His experience in Pastoral Counseling, Intentional Eucharistic Communities and Renewal programs for women religious continue to inform his ministry as a current retreat director. Since the year 2000 he has devoted his interest and education toward developing retreats and courses that bring the Universe Story to life in a spiritually relevant and meaningful way. Father Norm encourages those attending his presentations and retreats to ponder the wisdom of their religious tradition in the context of the Universe Story and of contemplative ecology.

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.
